Why DNSolog

Built for people who run websites

From a quick lookup to a full pre-launch audit.

Straight from the source

DNS Health walks the delegation from the parent zone and queries every authoritative name server directly — no cached answers hiding problems.

Fast & live

Checks run in parallel and ping / traceroute stream line by line from our Amsterdam probe, so you see results as they happen.

Security built in

Grade your HTTP security headers, verify the SSL chain and expiry, and audit SPF, DKIM and DMARC before mail starts bouncing.

Shareable results

Every report has its own URL. Send it to a client, your host or your team — they see exactly what you see.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does the DNS Health check test?

It finds the parent zone, compares the delegation (NS and glue records) with what your name servers publish, then asks each name server directly. It checks that they are authoritative, reachable over UDP and TCP, not open resolvers, agree on the SOA serial, and reports on SOA timers, MX, WWW and DNSSEC.

How long does DNS propagation take?

A change is visible once cached answers expire, which depends on the record's TTL — usually minutes to a few hours, and up to 48 hours for NS changes at the registry. The propagation tool shows what 18 public resolvers around the world return right now.

Why do some resolvers return different IP addresses?

Sites behind a CDN or geo-DNS hand out different addresses depending on where the question comes from. That is normal; set an expected value to check whether a specific record has reached every resolver.

Is DNSolog free?

Yes. Every tool is free to use without an account. Light rate limits keep the service fast for everyone.

Where do ping and traceroute run from?

From our server in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Results show latency and the network path from there to your target.
